Article 1: main social, political and economic structures in the country

After World War 1, the French Economy was bankrupt, the immense cost of the war left France without money and many of it was required for its reconstruction.  France faced 3 major problems, the interest on the debt is huge, they still need money for repairing the damage, and taxes were still too low to balance the stock market. The government, to save money, they lowered the interest to pay on new commerce, so it means that lower goods were produce, so it lower the profit in trading. A financial crisis was developed. After trying a lot of different things to restore the financial crisis in France, it wasn’t until 1926 when Poincare leveled new taxes on sales, so it was not only restored; it was 30% up than it was before the crisis.

In the social part,
1.4 million French men were killed during the World War 1, so by decreasing the loss of young men the population in France decreased drastically. The workers were starting to unite to the C.G.T. and increased the demanding, this caused a lot of strikes.
The politic structure of France passed by very difficult situations, they needed to make deals with other countries so it could pay the damage loss. In 1919, the Prime Minister’s aim was to be sure that Germany didn’t seek revenge in the next years. Later, It was demanded that for future protection of France the Rhine River should be the border between Germany and France, The Minister thought that Germany would make a threat, but after hearing the terms of the Treaty of Versailles that left Germany substantially intact, he notice that “This is not Peace. It is an Armistice for twenty years."
